Lesson 7. Economic Geography: Agriculture and Industry
Focus on the major agricultural types—plantation, dairy, market gardening, mixed farming, etc.—and their geographical prerequisites. In industry, understand classic location theories (Weber’s) and the geography of major industrial regions (Ruhr, Manchuria, Appalachia). The shift towards high-tech industries and knowledge economies is also important. Goh Cheng Leong provides a good base. To stay updated, analyze reports from the “Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)” on global food security and trade patterns, and follow business news for shifts in global industrial supply chains.
